Boland Motor Group (Pty) Ltd, trading as BMG Motor Group.
Business contact address: Cnr of R101 & Hackwill Crescent, Paarl, South Africa.
Who this notice covers
This notice explains how BMG Motor Group handles personal information through its dealership websites in Paarl and Worcester. It covers browsing, website enquiries and the staff inventory portal. A finance, insurance or vehicle transaction may need further information and its own notices from the relevant dealership or provider.
Information we receive
The BMG Buys Cars form asks for your name, mobile number, vehicle make, model, year, mileage, condition and whether you want to sell or trade in. Notes are optional. The form also records your agreement to be contacted about that request and which dealership website you used.
Providing an appraisal request is voluntary. The required details allow the team to assess and respond to it; without them, the online request cannot be submitted. You can also contact a dealership by phone or email.
If you call, email or use a WhatsApp link, we receive the information you choose to share through that service. Please avoid including identity documents, bank details or other people's personal information in optional website notes.
Approved staff sign in with an email address and password through Firebase Authentication. Staff also create vehicle records and upload stock photos. Website hosting and security services may process technical records such as IP addresses, browser details, requested pages and errors.
How information is used
We use enquiry information to respond to you, discuss your vehicle, arrange an appraisal or viewing, and take the next steps you request. Staff account information is used to control access to inventory management. Technical records help operate, protect and troubleshoot the websites.
The appraisal consent relates to your request. It does not sign you up for marketing. The website does not offer newsletter sign-up or make automated credit decisions. Finance calculator amounts are calculated in your browser; using the calculator does not send a finance application to BMG.
Cookies and browser storage
The websites use browser session storage and a functional cookie to reuse public vehicle listings and detail pages during browsing. Staff sign-in uses authentication and security cookies; a staff session lasts up to 12 hours. Your browser may retain static images and other website files in its cache.
BMG has not added advertising pixels or audience analytics to this app. Some location pages embed Google Maps. When an embedded map loads, your browser connects to Google, which may receive technical information and use its own cookies under its privacy policy. You can clear or restrict browser storage in your browser settings; doing so may affect browsing features or staff sign-in.
Retention and security
Enquiries and related correspondence are handled through the BMG inbox and may become part of a subsequent customer transaction. Retention depends on the enquiry, follow-up, any resulting agreement and applicable record-keeping obligations. Contact the team for the retention period that applies to your records or to request deletion where permitted.
The app uses HTTPS, authenticated staff access and controls on record changes and uploads. These measures reduce the risk of unauthorised access; no online service can guarantee absolute security. Staff must avoid publishing personal documents or private contact details in public vehicle photos and descriptions.
Your choices and rights
Subject to POPIA, you may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access, ask for correction or deletion where permitted, object to qualifying processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for that processing. We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing records. Withdrawing consent does not undo earlier lawful processing, and some records may still need to be retained by law.
Use the contact details below and describe the request. You can complain directly to the Information Regulator if you believe your personal information has been handled unlawfully; contacting BMG first is not a condition of lodging a POPIA complaint.
Other websites and updates
Links to manufacturers, WhatsApp, Google Maps and BMG Mobility take you to services with their own privacy information. This notice describes the dealership app and does not replace those notices. We may update it as the websites or their data handling change; the review date appears above.
